DESCRIPTION: Disk up to 5mm in diameter.  A delicate and quite beautiful brittlestar with the inner disc greyish-blue to p[ink and the dorsal surface covered in small scales. The fragile arms reach up to 20mm in length and are made up of several marginal plates that bear 3 to 4 conical spines. DISTRIBUTION: A widely distributed species throughout the British Isles and Ireland. HABITAT: Found in shallow water under stones, amongst rockpool weeds and occasionally on sandy bottoms where it feeds on loose deposits. BEST TIME TO SEE: Can be seen all year round but due to their small size are easily overlooked.
